Distribution of Royalties

Distributing royalties is one of URRO's most important responsibilities. It is the point at which the work of licensing and data collection translates into real income for Ugandan creators.

The process is meticulous and transparent. URRO first collects fees from user institutions that hold a licence. Those fees are then distributed to authors and publishers based on the usage data we have gathered, in line with rules and principles set by both URRO and international bodies such as IFRRO.

Fair distribution reinforces the value of intellectual property and motivates sustained creative output — knowing their rights are respected gives creators the confidence to keep producing original work. In doing so, royalty distribution contributes directly to the growth of Uganda's creative industry.
