Signing Reciprocal Agreements

URRO is committed to advancing the interests of text and image-based creators while promoting international collaboration. Signing reciprocal agreements with foreign Reproduction Rights Organisations (RROs) is one of our essential services.

These agreements grant mutual authorisation for the use of creators' works abroad and establish a clear method for collecting and distributing the remuneration that arises from those uses. The process involves negotiating formal partnerships with international RROs.

Through these agreements, URRO ensures Ugandan authors and publishers are compensated when their works are copied overseas, and that foreign works are given the same national treatment when used in Uganda.

URRO currently has, or is pursuing, reciprocal agreements with sister RROs such as the Copyright Licensing Agency (UK), the Copyright Clearance Center (US), Copyright Licensing New Zealand, Reprographic Society of Nigeria, Zambia Reprographic Rights Society and others. Through our memberships in IFRRO and WIPO, we adhere to globally recognised standards of administration, accountability and transparency.
